Tasting Peanutbutter Fruit at Jolly Olly Farm

A trip to subtropical Florida at its wettest and muggiest time of year, a time when one must embrace the mosquitos in exchange for a bounty of absolutely delicious tropical fruits. Tropical agroforestry expert Kevin Cruz arranged for visits on local farms around the southwestern area of Florida where we were able to meet farmers and fruit vendors and sample the sweet season.

Kevin works with Joel, owner of Jolly Olly Farm and together they install sustainable landscapes all across South Florida. Joel’s property is a beautiful specialty garden filled with unique plants. I didn’t capture nearly as many photos on this trip of the diversity there, but the peanut butter fruit was ripe for the picking and that was the best I could hope for.
