Ice Plant

This incredible inside-out plant is a pleasure to gaze your eyes upon, a joy to touch, and an absolutely incredible experience to crunch down on. The outside of all the leaves and stems of the plant is covered in what are called bladder cells. Those cells serve to increase water retention for the plant by storing it in tiny, clear, stiff bubbles all along the outer surface that pop, releasing the crunchy, salty, refreshing, juicy crunch within. Native to arid regions of Africa, Western Asia, and Europe, also known as Tsuburina. The fruits look like tiny figs, referred to as vyggies in South Africa and New Zealand.
