Jackfruit & more at Fruitscapes in Pine Island
Written By Laura Bennett
A trip to subtropical Florida at its wettest and muggiest time of year, a time when one must embrace the mosquitos in exchange for a bounty of absolutely delicious tropical fruits. Tropical agroforestry expert Kevin Cruz arranged for visits on local farms around the southwestern area of Florida where we were able to meet farmers and fruit vendors and sample the sweet season.
Kevin had a friend who works at Fruitscapes tour us around the nursery before picking out a ton of fresh fruit at their stand. There are so many different varieties of so many different tropical fruits here, definitely went home with more than we could handle!
