Sea Beet

Latin Name: Beta vulgaris subsp. maritima

The ancestor of both beets and chard, sea beet grows near coast lines throughout regions of Africa, Asia, and Europe. Sometimes to referred to as wild spinach, sea beet is known for its succulent and glossy leaves that make for rich spinach or chard-like greens that can be used interchangeably.
